I have decided that my field trip days are over! Both of my girls are old enough now, they should be able to go on school trips without their mama. My last adventure, with my youngest, was to a baseball game. I was to chaperone 3 VERY active girls. For the trip, my hiker’s backpack was filled with blankets, band-aids, TYLENOL, lunches… You name it, it was probably in there.
We got to the ballpark and were ready to walk around and find our seats. Little did I know, the pack was going to hog up a lot of room! We found our seats in the nosebleed section and I had to sit with it between my legs. Passage would not be easy…
My pack nearly wiped out an entire family wanting escape to find food! The dad knocked my drink over and lemonade went everywhere. The mom and daughter held onto me, for dear life, as they hopped over the monstrosity! I felt so bad… Finally, I decided to stuff it under the seat. It took a while and a lot of effort, but success was achieved!
The ginormous pack targeted a few people as my group walked through the stadium. Needless to say, I was not very popular with the crowd and totally understood. Unfortunately, I could not do a thing about it. I tried to be mindful of my surroundings, but when there is a big crowd and you are crammed together like sardines, it is hard to do…
This is a field trip that will not be quickly forgotten. We had a good time, but that pack was a nightmare. I need to remember not to bring all that junk! Anything you need is there at the ballpark. It may be ridiculously priced, but that is better than causing devastation at every turn! Hindsight is always 20/20, but at least I can chuckle at my stupidity!
(sung to the tune of “Take Me Out To The Ball Game”)
Take me out to the ball game
So I can knock out the crowd;
Don’t get too close or I’ll smack you
Though, I really didn’t mean to.
Let me hope, hope, hope, I don’t injure you,
If I do, it’s a shame.
For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out,
At the old ball game. =D
