My husband and I recently purchased guns from a pawn shop. We were told this is where police officers purchase their used guns and heard it had a good reputation. We picked them up on Wednesday and decided to go shooting on Friday.
My husband grew up on a farm and was familiar with guns. I, however, am not acquainted with guns. This was my second time shooting, but this time it was with my own gun. I purchased a .38 Special revolver and my husband got a .357 Magnum revolver.
The first time I shot a gun, it was all over the place. I would shoot too high or too low, but every now and then, I got lucky and shot inside the target. Not in the middle though…
This time, I shot closer to the middle and most of the shots were on the target. My shooting is getting better and I am feeling more comfortable with the weapon. I don’t jump every time the BOOM happens either. That is a bonus!
My husband shot towards the middle every time and did very well with his gun. I wasn’t surprised. As I said, he has experience. He’s really handsome with a gun, as well. =)
When we finished, we decided to go buy more ammo (we shot it all) and holsters. We went to this gun shop and asked the guy at the counter for help. When I told the man I wanted a holster for my purse and told him the gun I owned, he said, “Are you sure you don’t need a purse for that gun?” LOL
He said that was not the type of gun to carry in a purse and I told him my purse was big enough. I am a Texas woman! He tried to talk me into buying a smaller gun, but I am happy with my .38 Special. It’s my gun and I like it! He finally got a holster that would work in my purse.
My husband got a leather shoulder holster for his gun. They didn’t give him a hard time about his gun. I must be an easy target…
My second experience with guns was just as fun as the first. I am overcoming my fear of guns with each practice and growing more confident with my shooting. I love that this is an activity that can be shared with my amazing husband. I can’t wait to go again. I am determined to get that bullseye!
